Tonight my husband, stepson and I went to see the Damían Ortega: Do It Yourself, show at Boston’s ICA. I loved it even more than I expected and highly recommend
you check it out if you’re in the Boston area. My husband, a fellow Chilango, was especially impressed with how Ortega works with materials and images so common
to México and makes them mean something new. Ortega was born in México City
in 1967 and worked closely with Gabriel Orozco and Dr. Lakra, during the 80s. All three are now major successes and pillars of the ever growing contemporary art scene in México City. Ortega shows with Galería Kurimanzutto in México City, White Cube in London and DAAD Gallery in Berlin.

I love México and the way Méxcan’s think and it is always great to see someone of Ortega’s caliber make it and show the world that there is so much more to México than what they see on the news…For more images of México City, check out the virtual guide we made for our wedding guests.
