Taschen recently released A Visual History of Typeface & Graphic Styles 1628-1900. The book was edited by the late Jan Tholenaar, a Dutch bibliophile who adored ornamental metal type. Many have criticized the book for numerous historical inaccuracies and overly fluffy descriptions, but the book is still undeniable a beautiful and great visual history of decorative metal type. I would love to add it to my collection and get more historical inspiration for my invitations…
