While surfing my favorite blogs today I stumbled upon an old cover of Ray Gun magazine and was reminded of how much I loved that magazine during my college years. I can single handedly credit the publication with inspiring me to take graphic design classes and I now lament leaving stacks of back issues on the corner of Lexington and 23rd when I moved back to Boston. David Carson’s typographic vision was completely groundbreaking and gave the magazine a look and feel unlike anything that existed at the time. Ray Gun produced over 70 issues from 1992 through 2000. Owner-founder-publisher Marvin Scott Jarrett is now the editor-in-chief of Nylon.

Probably one the most talked about decisions Ray Gun made:
an actual “readable” editorial piece set in Zapf Dingbats.
