Interactive Gabriel Orozco
My husband and I are looking forward to getting down to New York to see the MoMA’s Gabriel Orozco retrospective. In the meantime, I think the interactive site they created is really interesting and fun to navigate. See also my related post about Damían Ortega.

Our next edition of New American Paintings, #85, focusing on the Pacific Coast will be out next Friday. The Pacific Coast area is consistently a strong book for us every year, but I think the entire staff agrees that this one is particularly good—potentially the best to date. Pre-order a copy directly here. Cover: Devin Troy [...]

Artists for Humanity
Thanks to my friend Stephanie, owner of Walker Contemporary, I’ve gotten myself involved in this year’s host committee for the annual Artists for Humanity Greatest Party on Earth. I have to admit I was initially intrigued by such a weighted event title, but after tonight’s first meeting and learning more about the organization I am [...]

One more week to see our current show, Hannah Cole | Mantle. In the words of gallery owner/director, Steven Zevitas, Cole’s work is: “…concerned with tension between abstraction and figuration and with visual phenomena that occur at the edges of our perception. In her recent paintings, she renders pieces of the urban environment that normally go [...]

Hvass Hannibal
Thanks to one of my favorite rags, Surface magazine, I have been introduce to the work of Sofie Hannibal and Nan Na Hvass of Hvass Hannibal. The duo’s work spans multiple genres including album covers, music videos, fine art, graphic art, prints, illustration and art direction. Everything they create has a very distinct look, one that [...]

With Evan’s new energy, the staff’s ideas and my new duties I have a renewed sense of pride and excitement around [...]

As of the 19th (during the blizzard no less) the Love Letter project came to an end with their 50th wall complete. The Phili Mural Arts Program is to be congratulated for supporting these artists (Lord knows, in Boston this would never [...]

Photographer: Bryan Derballa
I stumbled upon these shots by documentary photographer Bryan Derballa via Fecal Face. I really love how he captured the Miami art scene in such a unique way. See more from City in Pastels here.

Successful Miami Week
I am so pleased to report that Miami was not only about fun and parties, but also a huge success for the Steven Zevitas Gallery at the NADA fair—nearly selling out the entire booth and getting great feedback and interest from collectors around the country. New American Paintings also had continued success at Art Basel [...]

Santigold at the Raleigh Hotel
Santigold (formally Santogold, but was sued by an artist of the same name) put on a great performance at the Deitch Projects party at the Raleigh Hotel. Although it was an incredibly short set and I sadly missed the first couple of songs—even the tail end was pretty impressive. If you don’t know her music, listen [...]
