Over the fall I had the pleasure of working on the MGH Development Department’s premiere event: the Storybook Ball. As I mentioned in a previous post, this year they went with an Aladdin inspired, Arabian theme. I love pattern and have always loved old manuscripts, so this was an especially fun project to research and work on.

Working closely with the MGH team, Rafanelli Events, and Grossman Marketing
I created a layered invitation package designed to look like a bundle of rugs and fastened with a beautiful craft paper. As the recipient opened the bundle, each rug revealed information about the ball, committee and MGH donors. For the event I then created a program book designed to look like an ancient manuscript which was then printed on a thick, brown paper to mimicked the look of an old leather volume.

My company has just released the first of what will be a series of video projects in collaboration with blogger and videographer, Graham Kolbeins, of Future Shipwreck. The video focuses on LA-based artist Iva Gueorguieva, a past winner in our publication New American Paintings. Check it out:

Visit the New American Paintings blog for the complete post.

I am so taken by this project by artist/illustrator Jules Julian of Hugo & Martin.
The use of pattern and duo-chromatic symbols is just fantastic.

“Fifty years ago there had never been an Academy Award winning female director, an African-American First Lady, or a female billionaire. Thankfully today this is a reality. It is with the help of the following twenty fabulous, strong, imaginative, and inspiring women that future generations can dream to accomplish anything.”

The Fall issue of sloane is now out: www.sloanemag.com Yet another labor of love,
I am more pleased than ever with the results—

Working on getting online retail distribution, stay tuned…
coming to an iPad near you soon.

I am really excited to have a new sloane advertiser on board for the next issue, Franklin Cat Furniture, of Los Angeles. The brains behind this brand is Swiss born architect and designer, Peter Sehorsch. He obviously has a cat’s nature in mind and has blended it seamlessly with a beautiful, classic, mid-century aesthetic—much needed in the mainstream pet supply world of pink, plaid and cheap leopard print.
I especially love the Hollywood Tower that combines the affordable Ikea Stolmen bracket system with his own, well crafted, platforms. And, each “tree” can be customized to match your decor. I can’t wait to get one for my little Pixie.

I also love his fun, interactive presentations.

At long last, the latest issue of sloane is out! Hope you enjoy—there is tons of great new content, photography, shopping, beauty tips, health, the arts and more.
